HOW GROWING UP IN A HOUSEHOLD WITH DISABILITY SHAPED MY WORLDVIEW  -Joanna Zeriti-

- I learned not to take everything for granted, even the most basic things like seeing, hearing, or walking

-I learned that everyday people are struggling to do things that take just one second for me

-I learned that some people need help from others to cover their most basic needs               

-I learned that while society is harsh towards people with disabilities, they still do their best to function in the best way possible and they still want the same things from life that any other person would want

Awareness needs to be spread so that every person, even those not exposed to disability, can nonetheless learn how to act respectfully towards them and treat them as equals

A great and fun way to learn about and normalize disability is through fiction! Reading books has been a huge part of my life and it is the primary way I relax and unwind while still learning new things
